NewsAnother cableway variation...17/10/06 One of our longest cable ways. In recent times we have done reeving cableways (highlines)and downward cableways so for something different on Saturday we tried a horizontal cableway between 2 buildings at the old Christchurch Women's Hospital. Once we found a couple of decent anchors we divided the team into 2 with each working on an end of the system, with one also devising a system for tensioning the highline, with the other doing the rigging of the plate and main pulley. The parameters of the exercise was to have a system that could go either way. Each team therefore based their set up on our basic 2 line ARABS system with some extra prussik minding pulleys ready for when hauling required. We estimate the length was 70-80M and we used Rowan as the cable test dummy :-) We then proceeded to transfer 5 team members one way or the other. Ended up being quite gear intensive with 4x100M lines, 2 ARABS kits and the highline (120Mx 13mm) plus prussick minding pulleys, karabiners, rescuemate (for tensionsing) but was a solid system that worked well.
